Quick answer: unclaimedassetsportal.in is the Department of Financial Services’ Common Landing Portal, launched on 29 May 2026. It is a free, no-registration gateway with four buttons that take you to the official search for bank deposits (RBI’s UDGAM), insurance (IRDAI’s Bima Bharosa), mutual funds (SEBI’s MITRA) and shares and dividends (IEPFA). It does not search everything at once, and it does not cover PF or post office savings.

What the portal is
The government calls it the Common Landing Portal for Unclaimed Financial Assets, with the slogan ‘Aapki Poonji, Aapka Adhikar’ (Your Money, Your Right). It was launched by the Department of Financial Services with PSB Alliance, the public sector banks’ joint platform.
Before it existed, you had to know which regulator’s portal to use. The portal puts the four official searches in one place. By the government’s figures at launch, about ₹1 lakh crore lies unclaimed in India: roughly ₹78,000 crore in banks, ₹14,000 crore in insurance, ₹9,000 crore in dividends and ₹3,000 crore in mutual funds.
What it does and doesn’t do
- It does send you to the right official search for each type of money.
- It does not run a single search across banks, insurers, fund houses and companies. Each search happens on the portal it sends you to, with that portal’s own login and details.
- It does not cover Provident Fund (EPFO) or post office savings. For PF, see our old PF guide. For post office savings, ask at the post office where the account was opened.
- It does not pay out money. Claims are always made with the bank, insurer, fund house or company.
Who this guide is for
- Anyone who heard about the portal on the news and wants to know how to use it
- Families searching for money left by someone who has died
- People who are not sure which type of account the money might be in
Step-by-step: how to use it
- Open unclaimedassetsportal.in. Check that the address is exactly that. No registration is needed.
- Scroll to Reclaim What Is Rightfully Yours and pick a category.
- Click the button on the card. It opens the official portal for that category.
- Follow that portal’s steps. Our guides walk through each one, in the table below.

| Card | Where it sends you | Our step-by-step guide |
|---|---|---|
| Bank Deposits | RBI’s UDGAM portal | Search on UDGAM |
| Insurance | IRDAI’s Bima Bharosa portal | Unclaimed insurance money |
| Mutual Funds | SEBI’s MITRA, on MF Central | Forgotten mutual funds |
| Shares & Dividends | IEPF Authority website | Claim from IEPF |
Before you start: what each search needs
- Bank deposits (UDGAM): register with your mobile number, then search by account holder name plus address or an ID such as PAN.
- Insurance (Bima Bharosa or insurer websites): policyholder’s name and date of birth, and the policy number for the query form.
- Mutual funds (MITRA): PAN or PEKRN, the name on the old folio, and old contact or address details, with an OTP.
- Shares and dividends (IEPF): the investor’s first and last name; a demat account is needed to get shares back.
Common problems and how to fix them
‘It just sent me to another website’
That is how it is designed. The portal is a gateway, and the search happens on the official site it opens.
The money I’m looking for isn’t covered
PF and post office savings are not on the portal. Use our old PF guide or the “Where could my money be?” finder to work out where to look.
A search found nothing
Try spelling variations, initials and old addresses. Then check the other categories: money often turns up in a different place than expected.
Watch out for scams
Check the address bar. The official portal is unclaimedassetsportal.in, and it is free and needs no registration. Look-alike sites and messages may copy its name or slogan and ask for fees, card details or OTPs. No official portal charges you to search or claim. If you are targeted, report it at cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930.
What to do next
- Start with bank deposits: how to search on UDGAM
- Then check insurance and investments: insurance, mutual funds and shares and dividends
- Don’t forget PF: find and claim an old PF account
- Claiming for a family member who has died? Documents checklist: get these papers first
